Thunderbird 3.x (POP3)

To configure Thunderbird 3 to send and receive email using our servers using POP, please follow the steps below (please replace user@example.com with your email address and example.com with your domain name):

1. Open Thunderbird 3.

2. Choose "Tools" -> "Account Settings".

3. Click "Account Actions" -> "Add Mail Account..."

4. In the "Your Name" field you should enter the name you would like to appear on the messages you send. Enter your e-mail address user@example.com in the "Email address" field. Enter your mail password in the "Password" field. Mark the "Remember password" check-box.

Click on the "Continue" button.

5. Thunderbird is going to perform some checks (this might take some time). Click "Edit" when they are complete.

6. Update "Username" to match your mail address.

Change the protocol for the "Incoming" server to "POP".

Change the port for the "Incoming" server to 110.

Change "STARTTLS" to "None".


If you want to use a secure connection then Change the port for the "Outcoming" server to 456.

And then change "STARTTLS" to "SSL".


Click "Re-test Configuration".


7. Thunderbird will test your settings again. Click "Create Account" when the test is complete.

8. Thunderbird will issue a warning that your connection to the server is not encrypted. Mark the "I understand the risks" check-box and click "Create Account".

9. Click on "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" -> "Edit".

10. Verify that the "Use name and password" box is checked. The "User Name" should match your mail address.

Click "OK".

11. Click "OK".
